Sources: Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers in race to sign Yerson Chacon

Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers are battling to sign South American sensation Yerson Chacon, sources have told Football Insider.

Belgian pair Club Brugge and Anderlecht and French duo Angers and Strasbourg are also keen on the 18-year-old winger.

He has caught the eye of clubs in Europe with a number of outstanding displays for Deportivo Tachira and he has also broken into the Venezuelan senior set-up after impressing in other age groups.

Former Newcastle defender Fabricio Coloccini is a big admirer of Chacon having worked with the player as Venezuela’s Under-20 manager, while Everton striker Salomon Rondon has spoken in glowing terms of his countryman.

Chacon is under contract at Tachira until December 2024.

The youngster has scored three times and provided two assists in the current Venezuelan campaign.

Despite his tender age, Chacon has already spent three terms as a first-team regular for Tachira.

He was part of the side that lifted the Venezulena Premier Division in 2021, contributing 10 goals and eight assists throughout the season.

He is naturally a right winger but has also been deployed on the left flank on a number of occasions.

Suitors Bournemouth began their 2022-23 top-flight campaign with victory over Aston Villa but have lost their last two matches against Man City and Arsenal respectively.

Sheffield United and Blackburn meanwhile faced each other in the Championship last Saturday (20 August), with the Blades running out 3-0 winners.

They are 1st and 4th in the second tier respectively after five matches.
