Sources: Fulham and Bournemouth in race to sign Verona star Pawel Dawidowicz

Fulham and Bournemouth are chasing Verona defender Pawel Dawidowicz,Β sources have told Football Insider.

The Polish centre-back, 27, is on the radar of the Premier League new boys as they look to add a defender before the 1 September cut-off.

Dawidowicz has been targeted as he is a proven performer operating in a top league, two-footed, and can slot into central midfield as well as at centre-back.

Both sides have scoured the market for defensive reinforcements in recent weeks and have already made signings in the central defence.

Argentina international Marcos Senesi joined Bournemouth earlier this week (8 August), while Fulham have completed the captures of Premier League duo Shane Duffy and Issa Diop.

Dawidowicz is the latest name to pique the interest of the promoted pair as they look to avoid an instant return to the Championship.

The 27-year-old made 18 appearances for Verona last term despite suffering a serious knee ligament injury in December 2021.

The ex-Benfica ace, who primarily plays as part of a three-man defence, has made 100 total appearances for the Italian side since joining in 2019.

Dawidowicz is an eight-time Poland international and could be tempted to the Premier League with a view to securing a starting berth for the World Cup this winter.

The 6ft 2in ace is out of contract at Verona in June 2025.

Fulham and Bournemouth are ramping up their transfer business as the window enters its final three weeks.

Both promoted sides scored impressive results on the opening day, with the Cottagers securing a draw against Liverpool – and the Cherries defeating Aston Villa.
