Chelsea told to sign 'next Didier Drogba' after source's £70m+ reveal - pundit

Chelsea told to sign the “next Didier Drogba” in Brentford star Ivan Toney.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie insisted a player like Toney will help bring the Blues back to the top level.

Earlier this month (10 September), Football Insider revealed that Brentford could demand £70million-plus for the striker in the January window.

The Bees are said to be reluctant to lose the goalscorer mid-season, particularly given the potential difficulty of finding a replacement.

The 27-year-old is unable to play for Brentford, or any other club, until 17 January after being handed an eight-month ban back in May.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side added Nicolas Jackson in the summer but McAvennie insisted the club are still missing someone like Toney.

I still think they could do with Toney. I think if they get him they will be a force to be reckoned with again.

They have got a decent squad but no disrespect to Jackson as I think he will be a great player but he is all over the place, he is a bit like Bambi.

He will be a wonderful asset to Chelsea but if they get Toney it is like getting Drogba, he does not mind mixing it up, he does not mind the long runs and I think that is what Chelsea need.
