Sources: Liverpool told what it will take to sign Hickey amid 'huge' reveal

It would take a “huge” offer for elite clubs like Liverpool or Arsenal to prise Brentford defender Aaron Hickey away from the club, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Bees have no plans to let the 21-year-old leave in the near future.

Additionally, Football Insider revealed on Monday (25 September) that Hickey is “happy” with the Bees despite the reported interest from elite English clubs.

This news comes after reports suggesting Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United – as well as German giants Bayern Munich – are ready to battle for Hickey’s signature in January.

But well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the defender doesn’t want to disrupt his flow of first-team football with a move in the mid-season window.

It is believed he is keen to play regularly ahead of next year’s European Championships in Germany, with Scotland expected to qualify.

Hickey can play at left-back and right-back and has been performing well for club and country in the 2023-24 campaign.

He deputised on the left side for the Bees in their 3-1 loss against Everton on Saturday (23 September) after Rico Henry suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury earlier this month.

The 21-year-old has started all six of Brentford’s Premier League games this term.

Hickey joined the London club from Bologna in July 2022 for a reported £14million, rising to £18million after performance-based add-ons.

And it is believed Thomas Frank’s side would ask for a big profit if the full-back is to leave the club in the coming months.

Liverpool’s links with Hickey come amid the injury absence of first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in recent weeks.

Joe Gomez has deputized for the 24-year-old.

In other news, Liverpool close to agreeing £70million+ off-pitch deal.
