Sources: Aaron Hickey 'happy' at Brentford after Man United and Arsenal links

Aaron Hickey is content at Brentford amid recent links to Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the 21-year-old is “happy” with the Bees despite the reported interest from elite English clubs.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United – as well as German giants Bayern Munich – are reportedly ready to battle for Hickey’s signature in January.

Brentford have recently been hit with a crippling blow in defence, losing left-back Rico Henry to a serious knee injury which could keep him out for the rest of the season.

Hickey can play at left-back and right-back and has been performing well for club and country in the 2023-24 campaign.

He has started all six of Brentford’s Premier League games this term and moved onto the left side in Henry’s absence for the 3-1 loss against Everton on Saturday (23 September).

The youngster has earned 11 caps for Scotland since making his senior debut in March 2022.

Hickey joined Brentford from Bologna in July 2022 for a reported £14million, rising to £18million after performance-based add-ons.

The Glasgow-born ace is under contract at the London club until June 2026.

He made 26 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, his debut season in English football.

Brentford have picked up just six points from a possible 18 so far in the new season.

Thomas Frank’s side face Arsenal in the League Cup on Wednesday (27 September) before travelling to Nottingham Forest (1 October).

In other news, Liverpool will accept ‘big’ offer for star man in January.
