Tottenham fans are all saying the same thing about signing Guglielmo Vicario ahead of David Raya after win v Fulham
Tottenham fans have been taking to social media to share their delight in landing Guglielmo Vicario over David Raya after their win over Fulham on Monday night.
Football Insider has been gathering the reaction of Spurs fans after the weekends’ Premier League matches which lumped pressure on Raya and earned plaudits for Vicario.
The Lilywhites were keen on a deal for Raya in the summer but were only willing to pay £20million for the keeper who was valued by Brentford at £40m.
Ultimately Tottenham moved on to other targets and Arsenal, whose number one Aaron Ramsdale had hardly set a foot wrong, swooped for Raya.
Ange Postecoglou’s side instead turned their attention to Empoli’s Vicario and agreed a deal worth a reported £17.2m.
Tottenham are currently top of the Premier League after Monday’s (23 October) 2-0 win over Fulham and are unbeaten in their opening nine games of the season.
Spurs fans have taken to X to share their relief at not landing Raya in the summer.
One supporter was full of admiration for former managing director of football Fabio Paratici.
One supporter suggested Paratici is an “oracle” for his role in Vicario’s signing.
Another claimed that choosing Vicario over Raya is already the club’s best decision of the season.
Another issued a “public apology” to his new number one.
Another was delighted that Brentford refused to budge on their price tag for Raya.
One fan claimed Spurs have “dodged a bullet” by missing out on Raya.
And one fan suggested whoever had the clever idea to sign Vicario instead of Raya should be in line for a pay hike.
