'I Can See Him Coming Back' - David Moyes back for sensational Everton return
Ex-Everton chief Keith Wyness has insisted he can “never say never” on a sensational potential return for West Ham boss David Moyes to Merseyside.
The 66-year-old, who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, insisted current manager Sean Dyche is doing a “fabulous job” – but admitted “things change” in football.
Moyes took charge of 518 matches at Everton between 2002 and 2013 before leaving to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Man United.
The Scot is out of contract at West Ham, where he won the Europa Conference League earlier this year, at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
He won almost 43% of his matches in charge at Everton and achieved a fourth-place finish with the Merseysiders in the 2004-05 campaign.
Dyche is under contract at Goodison Park until June 2025 and must overcome a 10-point penalty to keep the Toffees in the Premier League this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness said: “Dealing with David as the manager, he was very thorough.
“He would go out and watch a player five times before deciding on him. We did it a lot more methodically for the time.
“If you look at the team we had – Arteta, Cahill, Carsley, Gravesen, Stubbs, Weir – they all went on to do great things.
“I can see him back at the club. I thought David would have gone back before – but never say never.
“It would be difficult to see him come in now with Dyche in charge, but things change.
“You never say never in football. I know he loves the club, he cares about the club – and we’ll see.
“But I think Sean is doing a fabulous job.”
