Sources: Major update on Leeds United selling two stars in January

Leeds United do not want to lose Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto in the January window, sources have told Football Insider.

That is despite potential sales of the duo presenting the opportunity for the Whites to boost their budget in the new year as their promotion push ramps up.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (27 November) that Leeds are eyeing two loan signings ahead of January.

It is believed the Yorkshire side will have a decent budget available for permanent deals, but with a number of first-teamers out on loan – they will need to make sales to go further with their overhaul in the market.

And while they don’t want to lose both Gnonto and Summerville, a well-placed source has acknowledged that every player has his price.

Premier League clubs have been widely linked with a move for Summerville – who has been Leeds’ standout player in the Championship this season.

The Netherlands Under-21 international, who is under contract until June 2026, has notched seven goals and five assists in 14 second-tier appearances.

Summerville, 22, penned his last extension at Elland Road in 2022 – prior to the club’s relegation.

Meanwhile, Gnonto has had a more muted role for Daniel Farke’s side so far this season.

He has managed just one goal and one assist in 12 appearances across all competitions for the Whites in the 2023-24 campaign.

The Italy international, who was a summer target for Everton before their point deduction, has started just one of the last six Championship games.

Gnonto is under contract at Elland Road until June 2027.

Football Insider revealed on 6 November that he is unhappy with his lack of game time as the January transfer window approaches.
