Borna Barisic axed, Jose Cifuentes starts: Rangers predicted XI v Aberdeen

Rangers take on Aberdeen at Pittodrie in their first game after the international break on Sunday (26 November).

With Philippe Clement looking to keep his unbeaten start to life in Glasgow alive, Football Insider has predicted the Ger’s starting line-up to face the Dons.

Defence

Jack Butland will almost definitely start for the Gers behind a slightly tweaked defence from their 2-0 win at Livingston earlier this month (12 November).

Leon Balogun and Connor Goldson may well keep their spots at centre-back too with James Tavernier at right-back, but Borna Barisic, 31, amid his patchy form, could drop to the bench in favour of Ridvan Yilmaz.

Midfield

Clement admitted in his pre-match press conference that Ryan Jack is in doubt for the affair after starting Rangers’ last two games.

However, his absence could afford Jose Cifuentes just his fifth league start of the campaign next to mainstay John Lundstram.

The Ecuadorian has amassed just 16 minutes of action under the new boss since his arrival but could be in line to a chance to finally impress.

Attack

Todd Cantwell and Sam Lammers are strong possibilities of returning to the fray in place of Ross McCausland and Tom Lawrence respectively after featuring heavily for Clement.

Abdallah Sima has become almost undroppable for the Gers after scoring nine goals in all competitions and would be a shock omission against Aberdeen.

As revealed by Football Insider (16 November), Clement introduced a rigorous training regime during the two-week break and fans will be hopeful that this will rub off on Cyriel Dessers, but Danilo’s exceptional form could see him start up top instead.
