'Might have a meltdown', 'Congrats City' - Liverpool fans react to team news update ahead of Man City clash

Liverpool fans have reacted angrily Jurgen Klopp’s squad update ahead of their crucial showdown against Man City on Saturday (25 November) – and suggested it means Darwin Nunez won’t start.

The German faces multiple headaches ahead of the Etihad clash including the early kick-off and the swathe of late returnees from the international break – namely South American stars Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Alisson and Darwin Nunez.

The tie could have huge ramifications in the title chase, with the Citizens just one point ahead of the Reds at the summit of the Premier League.

Thankfully for Liverpool supporters, the club picked up no injuries during the two-week break and they are set to welcome Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate back to the squad after taking part in training on Thursday.

Fans have taken to social media to share their view on who should be in the starting line-up.

This fan insists that Nunez should get the nod despite his late return after his prolific break with Uruguay.

One fan read between the lines of Klopp’s comments and determined that Cody Gakpo will start ahead of Nunez, meaning Liverpool can kiss goodbye to the three points.

One supporter has resigned any chance of winning if Nunez is not in the line-up after earning seven goals and six assists in all competitions this season.

One fan claimed other supporters could face a “meltdown” after Klopp said Mac Allister was not a number six.

This Red is very eager for Diaz to start as his dribbling and ball retention would be ideal against Pep Guardiola’s men.

This fan slammed Klopp’s “word salad nonsense” regarding Mac Allister’s potential role on Saturday.

This supporter would be baffled if Wataru Endo earned a starting spot.

One supporter predicted that Diaz would make his way to the bench instead of Nunez.
