Pundit suggests 'big changes on the football side' at Man United as radical Sir Jim Ratcliffe plan revealed

Man United fans want “big changes on the football side” as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plans to add more clubs to his network.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson insisted that fans would only concern themselves on the changes the billionaire makes on the pitch.

As revealed by Football Insider (7 November), Ratcliffe intends to add more clubs to his network in the next 12-24 months as he looks to build a multi-club model that can rival that of Man City and help develop the next generation of stars for United’s first team.

Ratcliffe, 71, is expected to acquire 25 per cent of the club to add to his growing portfolio including Ligue 1 side Lille and Swiss top-flight outfit Lausanne.

Robinson claims this will not matter to the Old Trafford faithful and they will want to see his focus on them after becoming a “shadow” of their former selves.

“Man United fans won’t care about what Jim Ratcliffe owns outside of Man United,” he told Football Insider.

“They will want him focused in their club. Him taking over football matters is a big change for them.

“The Glaziers are still involved with the club, which they won’t want. The majority of fans would have wanted a clean-cut deal, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

“But with Ratcliffe, they would hope to see big changes on the football side with him, regardless of what he owns business-wise.

“If his focus should be on Man United and there needs to be a huge change on the football side. They’re a shadow of they’re former selves.

“Everyday it’s just something else about Man United and that’s because they’re one of the biggest football clubs in the world.

“You want to see him backing managers, whether it’s the one they have or if they make a change.”
