Kieran Maguire shares view on Everton going into administration as £300m case begins

Everton will avoid going into administration even if they lose their £300million compensation case.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who explained to Football Insider that Everton will receive no financial benefits if they do choose to enter administration.

Following their 10-point deduction earlier this month, the Toffees are now facing a joint £300million compensation claim from Leicester City, Leeds United and Burnley.

Senior figures from all three clubs have met to reaffirm their plans to file their huge compensation claim, and the Daily Mail report that Everton could be forced into administration if they are made to pay the £300million.

Should Everton enter administration, they would face another nine-point penalty on top of their previous deduction.

However, Maguire explained that Everton would still have to pay the full amount regardless so administration is not likely to a be a route the club explores.

I don’t personally see any benefits of administration,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

“If there is a financial compensation package, first of all, Everton might have some form of insurance.

I think that’s unlikely, but it’s a route that would have to be explored.

If a verdict is upheld against Everton and it’s a financial settlement, then that would be classified as a football creditor.

Under the administration rules, football creditors have to be settled in full.

So even if the club is put into administration, they have to pay 100 percent of that figure when they come back out.

It would also come with a further points deduction.

“So it’s a route that nobody wants to go down, and I don’t think the three clubs who are litigating want that to take place, either.

Nobody wants to see a football club go into administration because it’s the local suppliers who suffer the most.
