Tottenham news: 'Door will be open' for Christian Eriksen to re-sign after 'crazy' development - Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Christian Eriksen could re-sign for Tottenham this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted Eriksen’s return to football has been “crazy”.

The 30-year-old signed for Brentford on a free transfer in January until the end of the season after being released by Inter Milan.

He was unable to compete in Serie A as he had an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implanted following his collapse while representing Denmark at Euro 2020 last summer (2021).

After over nine months out, Eriksen returned to action in the 2-0 loss to Newcastle United last month (26 February) and has now played three times for Brentford.

The Bees have won both of the Premier League games he has started and his performances earned him a place in the Denmark squad revealed on Tuesday (15 March) for their upcoming internationals.

As quoted by football.london the same day, Antonio Conte, Eriksen’s boss at Inter Milan, admitted it was “special” to see the midfielder play so well on his return.

Asked whether Eriksen could rejoin Tottenham this summer, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “He could do.

“All he’s got to do at the moment is keep performing, keep those performance levels up. I’m sure Brentford will want to take it easy with him as well.

“He’s back in the Denmark squad now. I’m sure he won’t rule anything out in the summer.

“Every door will be open for him because he’s still a quality player. It’s crazy how he’s come back this quickly.”

Eriksen scored 69 times and contributed 60 assists in 305 games for Tottenham before leaving for Inter in January 2020.

He was part of the Inter side that won Serie A under Conte last season.
