Sources: Man United propose 'sensational' new Rasmus Hojlund swap deal offer

Man United have offered at least three players in part-exchange for Rasmus Hojlund during talks with Atalanta, sources have told Football Insider.

But the Italian club are holding firm in their desire to secure a cash-only deal for their prize asset, 20, as negotiations are set to continue over a deal.

United have agreed personal terms with Hojlund and he has confirmed to the club he wants to make what will be a box-office move to Old Trafford.

But there is some way to go before a full agreement is secured with United also set to pay big money for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana and will need to balance their finances.

With this in mind, swap deals have been suggested in part exchange by United, who are looking to offload multiple first team players, including some big names, in the final weeks of the window.

The Premier League giants would prefer what would be a “sensational” cash plus players exchange rather than paying the asking price of around £60m for Hojlund.

United have made the capture of a prolific number nine their top priority once the Onana deal is complete.

Significantly, Hojlund has made it clear he wants to join United.

Sources have told Football Insider there is already a verbal agreement over personal terms between United and the Danish striker.

Hojlund is regarded as one of the best young strikers in world football and it is believed he wowed Man United scouts with his potential throughout the 2022-23 campaign.

He only joined Atalanta last summer (2022), but had a strong first season in Serie A and recently burst onto the international scene.

Hojlund notched 15 goals across 41 appearances in all competitions last term, despite starting in just 26 of those outings.

The forward has managed six goals in his first five senior appearances for Denmark since making his debut in September 2022.

His contract at Atalanta runs until June 2027.
