Lynch: Major update on Liverpool bid to sign Khephren Thuram

Liverpool remain in talks over a deal for Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, sources have told Football Insider.

The 22-year-old’s contract at the Ligue 1 club runs until 2025 after signing an extension in 2021 and Football Insider has learned that the French outfit would love for a bidding war to emerge over the midfielder.

It is believed that a deal for Thuram is possible but Ryan Gravenberch could emerge as a key target if the Reds cannot reach a breakthrough with the Nice midfielder.

Gravenberch has been a long-term target for Liverpool and the club were interested in a deal before he made the move from Ajax to Bayern Munich last summer.

The 21-year-old made 33 appearances for Bayern across all competitions this season but is unsure of his part in Thomas Tuchel’s plans moving forward.

As a result, the midfielder could shoot to the top of Jurgen Klopp’s list if a deal with Thuram cannot be reached.

The Merseysiders have already confirmed the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister on a long-term deal from fellow Premier League side Brighton.

The Reds have also been eyeing up moves for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and Celta Vigo ace Gabri Veiga as they look to strengthen the midfield.

On 20 June, Football Insider revealed that Chelsea are talking to the pair about a potential move to Stamford Bridge but are waiting to offload several assets in order to advance with official moves for the midfielders.
