Sources: Man City agree date with Premier League to settle 100+ FFP charges

Man City and the Premier League have agreed a trial date to settle the club’s Financial Fair Play charges, Football Insider can reveal.

The Manchester club have been accused of breaching 115 regulations over 14 seasons from the 2009/10 season onwards.

As first reported by the Daily Mail, City’s case has been scheduled to be heard by an independent panel in Autumn 2024.

Should the trial go ahead on time, a verdict is expected to be delivered by the start of the 2025/26 season – however, any appeals will likely delay the outcome.

As per The Athletic, the Premier League introduced new rules in September to fast-track any financial cases.

The Premier League handbook now states that the process for any financial breach – including any appeal – must be completed within a 12-week period to provide ‘clarity’ on any points deductions.

However, City’s charges were introduced before the rule change and will not be impacted by the 12-week deadline.

If found guilty of financial breaches, City could face a significant points deduction similar to the punishment handed to Everton this month, or even relegation.

Finance expert Kieran Maguire previously told Football Insider that City could ‘easily’ end up with a 30-point deduction if found guilty.

Any potential punishment from the trial could be handed to City in the summer of 2025, when Pep Guardiola’s current contract is set to expire.

However, the City boss has reiterated his desire to stay at City even if the club is relegated.
