Rangers expert drops 'huge' James Tavernier prediction

James Tavernier can “definitely” end the season as one of the league’s top three goalscorers after his prolific start to the season with Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Tottenham defender Alan Hutton hailed the full-back for his ability to shine in “huge moments” for Philippe Clement’s side this season.

The 32-year-old is the joint-top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership alongside Celtic’s David Turnbull with seven goals.

He has netted in Rangers’ last four games in the league while his brace in the League Cup against Hearts secured them a place in the final.

Hutton is confident he can continue his excellence and hailed the captain for his consistent goalscoring.

“I can’t see him being the top scorer but he can definitely be up there in the top three,” he told Football Insider.

“People will say that there’s a lot of penalties in there, but they still count.

“You still have to step up and score them and I think he comes up with huge moments in games.

“Whether that be on the big European nights or in the league, so hopefully that can continue.

“We’re talking about 113 goals in his Rangers career which is absolutely incredible so hopefully he can continue that form.”
