Sources: Evan Ferguson rockets into Brighton top earners after agreeing new deal

Brighton have brought Evan Ferguson in line with other top earners at the club with his new six-year contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The Seagulls confirmed on Friday (10 November) that the 19-year-old had put pen to paper on a fresh deal running until June 2029.

That is despite only signing his previous contract in April following his breakthrough earlier in the 2022-23 campaign.

Brighton had always planned to reward Ferguson if his meteoric rise continued – and the striker has resumed his impressive form at the start of the 2023-24 season.

A well-placed source has described the Republic of Ireland international as a “superb talent”.

Ferguson has taken his first-team opportunity with aplomb and has been handsomely rewarded for his efforts with his latest contract extension.

The 19-year-old has managed five goals in 14 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

He has been rotated with other forwards Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro – and produced his most impressive performance of the season against Newcastle in September when he notched a hattrick against the Magpies.

Ferguson notched his first Premier League goal against Arsenal in December 2022 and has already gone on to hit 11 in the English top flight despite his tender age.

The starlet has also earned eight caps for Ireland since making his senior debut 12 months ago – scoring three international goals.

Brighton, who are close to qualifying for the Europa League knockout stage, sit eighth in the Premier League.

The Seagulls are next in action against Nottingham Forest on 25 November.
