Man City facing star exodus after source's Premier League talks reveal - Robinson

Paul Robinson has claimed there could be an exodus from Man City if the club are handed a points deduction.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said top players at the Etihad will want to play in the Champions League.

As revealed by Sky Sports (8 February), Premier League clubs want City kicked out the division if found guilty of their alleged financial breaches.

A points deduction is another possibility should the Premier League champions be found guilty.

Sources have told Football Insider (8 February) that Man City’s charges will dominate proceedings at the next Premier League shareholders meeting.

When asked by Football Insider if a strict punishment could lead to player exits from the Etihad, Robinson said: “Players could potentially leave if they are handed a points deduction.

“Just look at Juventus. A lot of their players are being linked with moves because of their situation.

“A points deduction could mean no Champions League and we all know the best players want to play in the Champions League. I suspect a lot of players are staying at City because they want to be the first ones to lift that trophy for the club.

“It is worrying times for Man City. It will be really interesting to see how it all unfolds because no doubt they will fight tooth and nail to prove their innocence.”
