Sources: Rangers set for record-breaking injection after £42m reveal
Rangers are set for a financial injection from the SPFL after they posted record-breaking revenue in 2022/23, Football Insider can reveal.
The Scottish Professional Football League posted their updated accounts via Companies House for the fiscal year up to 31 May with a turnover of £42.6million.
It was a record-breaking turnover figure for the Scottish Professional Football League and marked a £3million increase from the year prior.
After paying out any overheads, the SPFL’s financial model distributes all turnover to clubs from its four tiers.
Documents from the SPFL’s Companies House submission reveal that the fee paid out to clubs was just under £32million.
The exact distribution to clubs in Scotland’s top flight is not disclosed, but Rangers are set to receive a record-breaking fee from the SPFL.
The majority of the SPFL’s turnover came from domestic broadcast deals which were worth £40million – £3million more than 2021/22.
Overseas broadcasting was valued at just £2.5million which pales in comparison to the £1.1billion overseas valuation of Premier League rights.
As reported by Sportbusiness, the international broadcast rights to the Scottish Premiership will continue to be sold by Infront until the end of the 2028-29 season
As a result of the record-breaking turnover posted by the SPFL, Rangers are expected to announce an increase to their broadcast revenue for their 2023/24 report.
The Ibrox club revealed broadcast revenue of £24million in their latest accounts.
