Rodgers is 'under pressure' at Celtic after what's just happened - Hutton

Brendan Rodgers is already “under pressure” at Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton insisted Rodgers will know that recent results haven’t been good enough but has backed the boss to turn things around.

The Hoops dropped two points at home in Saturday’s (26 August) league game against St Johnstone after failing to score despite 75 per cent possession and 19 shots on goal.

The Scottish Champions were held to a 0-0 draw at Parkhead.

The result comes less than a week after Rodgers’ side were eliminated from the League Cup in a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on 20 August.

When asked if fans should be worried or if Rodgers needs more time to settle in, Hutton told Football Insider:I understand both sides of it.

As a supporter, off the back of a treble, you want to hit the ground running and you think you should be doing better.

That being said you have got a new manager coming in with slightly different ideas. They had something like 70 per cent possession, 19 opportunities, [Matt] O’Riley should have had a hattrick so it is not like they are not creating chances, it is just that final bit is not quite where it was last season.

I think it does take a little bit of time and of course the manager will be under pressure. He will know that, the way he left the last time, a couple of bad results and you can hear the grumbles.

But, they are one good performance away from everything being alright so I do not think it is as bad as what everybody thinks.
