Kyogo Furuhashi: Celtic star will play against Rangers after I spoke to 'people who know' - expert

Frank McAvennie claims Kyogo Furuhashi will make his Celtic return in time for April’s games against Rangers.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, has revealed what he’s been told by his sources.

Celtic fans spotted Furuhashi, 27, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment during a recent Celtic training video.

The Japan international can be spotted in the back of the image, with a ball at his feet, away from his teammates.

Furuhashi has not played in 2022 due to a hamstring injury picked up in December 2021.

Ahead of three games against Rangers in April and McAvennie claims the first clash, on 3 April, will be Furuhashi’s targetted return date.

“There are rumours going about, about him coming back for these Rangers games,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It would be great because we play them three times in a month, it would be magnificent.

“The guys who are in there at the moment will cause problems for Rangers and Kyogo is better than them, no disrespect to the other guys.

“You want to see your best players back, nobody has said anything about this injury for a while.

“To see him back in training is magnificent. I’ve heard from people who know he will be back in the next few weeks, in time for the Rangers games.

“I hope that’s true because we will win them if he plays.”

Furuhashi has scored 16 goals in 26 games for the Hoops this season.

Two of those came on December 19 as Celtic beat Hibernian 2-1 in the Scottish League cup final.
