Sources: Liverpool ready formal Romeo Lavia move as three transfers edge close

Liverpool are preparing to make a formal move for Romeo Lavia as Jurgen Klopp pushes hard for a deal behind the scenes, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds have made the 19-year-old their top central midfield target and will look to secure an agreement with Southampton if they can agree sales for Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

Klopp is extremely keen to bring the Southampton star to Anfield this summer and Lavia, in turn, is convinced by the Liverpool project that is believed to have been sold very well to him by the club’s recruitment team.

Both Henderson and Fabinho are the latest big names to have been the subject of bids from Saudi Arabia.

Al Ittihad, who have already signed Karim Benzema and Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, have submitted a £40million bid for Fabinho.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is keen to bring Henderson to Al Ettifaq after taking over as manager.

The 33-year-old has agreed terms with the club and wants the move.

If the sales go through it will clear the path for the Reds to make a concrete move for Lavia.

On 8 July, Football Insider revealed that Klopp’s side are convinced Lavia wants to join them over other suitors this summer.

The Merseysiders have been in talks to lure the midfielder from St Mary’s but are facing competition from Premier League sides including Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City as well as Spanish giants Barcelona.

Lavia has been attracting interest from big six sides following an impressive debut Premier League campaign, despite Southampton’s relegation from the top flight.

Liverpool are interested in adding another big-money midfielder signing after already securing the services of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Diminik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.
