Newcastle United could now accept Jacob Murphy 'offer' - 'money talks', says pundit

Newcastle United will not shut any doors on a Jacob Murphy exit this January – and are likely to accept the right offer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Scotland defender Alan Hutton admitted that the Magpies won’t be keen to reduce their squad but “money talks”.

As revealed by Football Insider (27 November), Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have made enquiries about the forward’s price tag as they look to bolster their attacks this winter.

Murphy has been offered little game time by Eddie Howe this season with just 295 minutes in all competitions but has still managed one goal and four assists.

Hutton feels that Newcastle would need to have an improved replacement lined up if they want to let the 28-year-old go or be offered a valuable deal for his services.

“If he continues in this way, and if their injuries continue, then you can’t imagine Newcastle would want to lose anybody,” he told Football Insider.

“I’ve said it a million times but money talks. If there’s an offer for Murphy there that they think is acceptable or if they think they can get a good replacement in then they’ll obviously consider it.

“No doors will be shut. If they look at all the information and then make their minds up.

“But as it stands, I don’t think they’ll want to lose anyone.”
