Harry Kane: Man United tipped for £100m swoop as Tottenham 'ambition' questioned by ex-Spurs star

Harry Kane would relish the opportunity to play at one of the world’s “most iconic” teams in Manchester United, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 28-year-old will be questioning Tottenham’s “ambitions” amid interest from the Red Devils.

As reported by The Mirror on Monday (14 March), Man United are considering reigniting their interest in Kane this summer but know it will cost £100million to do a deal.

The two sides are currently locked in a battle to supplant Arsenal in the race for a top-four finish this season.

Man United lead Tottenham by two points but have played one more game than the Londoners.

Hutton claimed Kane’s decision could hinge on Spurs’ transfer business this summer.

He told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge: “It could come down to what Tottenham do in the summer.

“What are their ambitions? Are they really going to challenge and spend money? That’s what Harry Kane will be wanting to know.

“He’ll want to win things, there’s no doubt about it. Man United are in the midst of a rebuild, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

“In the back of his mind, he will be wanting to become the greatest goalscorer in the Premier League ever.

“I think it would be a very good signing.

“But it’s a chance to go and play with one of the most iconic teams in world football. I think he would really enjoy that, he would score goals there and really make them better.”

Kane, contracted until 2024, has netted 22 goals in 40 games this term.

The England captain has netted 178 career Premier League goals, 82 short of Alan Shearer.
