Newcastle United transfer news: Miguel Almiron and 27-year-old teammate tipped to be sold after Everton loss

Newcastle United will sell Emil Krafth and Miguel Almiron in the summer along with other backup players.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the club’s loss to Everton.

Newcastle lot 1-0 to Everton on Thursday (17 March) thanks to a late Alex Iwobi strike.

This was the Magpies’ fourth game in 12 days, a run that saw a nine-game unbeaten run ended by Chelsea on Sunday (13 March).

Krafth, 27, and Almiron both started in Newcastle’s last two games but McAvennie claims they won’t be at the club next season.

“We knew these backup players are not good enough,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“The good news for Newcastle is that they won’t get relegated this season.

“They could finish in the top half, they can’t let this result affect them because they have come on leaps and bounds.

“There were always decent players there but they were so negative under Steve Bruce.

“Now you have some players who are clearly not good enough, they will have to go.

“Your Almirons, Krafths, they will be gone because there will be a massive recruitment drive this summer.

“This isn’t Eddie Howe’s squad yet, he needs to get his own players in.

“The ones he has already brought in have been fantastic so let’s see what happens in the summer.

Newcastle are next in action after the international break against Tottenham on 3 April.

The Magpies are unbeaten during their two previous visits to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
