Scott Brown 'definitely' returning to Celtic after 'massive' news - Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Scott Brown will “definitely” return to Celtic one day.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted the 36-year-old may have a couple more seasons left as a player before an emotional return to Parkhead.

Brown announced on Instagram last week (11 March) he was taking some time to think about his next move after leaving his player-coach role at Aberdeen following Stephen Glass’ sacking.

As quoted by Sky Sports the day before (10 March), Ange Postecoglou insisted “there will always be an open door” at Celtic for the former captain.

Brown spent 14 years at the club before moving to Aberdeen last summer (2021) to begin his coaching journey.

He won 22 trophies while at the club, including 10 Scottish Premiership titles, nine as captain.

Asked whether a return to Celtic could now happen, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Oh, it would be perfect to have him on the coaching staff.

“To have him on the bench with the manager would be perfect. But we don’t know what he’s thinking.

“He still might have a year or two left in him playing. But sooner or later he will definitely be back at Celtic.

“You never know, he might have a couple more years left as a player before then.”

Brown played over 600 times for the Bhoys after moving to the club from Hibs in the summer of 2007.

He played 33 times for Aberdeen across all competitions this season before leaving Pittodrie.
