Tottenham expert excited by source's Lloyd Kelly reveal after offer submitted - 'It will happen'

Tottenham won’t “shut the door” on a move for Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs and Scotland defender Alan Hutton claimed Ange Postecoglou’s side are in need of more options in defence.

As revealed by Football Insider (10 November), the club are planning a new move for the 25-year-old after failing to land him during the summer window.

The Cherries rejected a £20million offer from the Lilywhites during the summer, with Football Insider revealing (12 November) that Kelly’s asking price in January will be £25-30million.

Hutton praised Kelly for ticking “a lot of boxes” for Spurs and claimed the club will be keeping a close eye on him.

“I don’t think they’ll shut the door on anyone,” he told Football Insider.

“It’ll be very interesting to see who they bring in, and I think it will happen, a top signing, for sure. They do need defensive reinforcements as we’ve seen after a number of injuries.

“They look thin at the back so it’s something they will look at. Kelly’s got lots of experience in the Premier League.

“He’s a good size, good with his feet and ticks a lot of boxes.

He’s somebody they’ll have an eye on but I’m sure there’ll be lots of players that are working hard in the background to see if they can make the squad better.”
